Brakes, a key player in the foodservice industry, is seeking a Product Innovation Specialist to enhance our team on a full-time, permanent basis. In this role, you will engage with various product segments as part of the merchandising team, collaborating closely with procurement, technical, category, and supply chain departments to drive and achieve the broader business strategy objectives.

Your responsibilities will encompass supporting the comprehensive development process to streamline project delivery across different categories. You will have the opportunity to learn from development managers, gaining valuable insights into the product lifecycle from concept to market launch. Additionally, you will be mentored to manage a specific product group within a category or supplier, focusing on ongoing development and career advancement.

This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring you to be present in our Ashford, Kent office for team collaboration three days a week. Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance and be open to travel, as the role involves regular domestic travel and occasional international trips.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in all food panels for both existing and new product development.
  • Conducting product quality benchmarking.
  • Coordinating sample requests for external clients.
  • Developing supplier-facing product briefs for new product development (NPD) and existing product development (EPD).
  • Reviewing and validating initial supplier specifications.
  • Monitoring and tracking the end-to-end new line setup process.
  • Supporting the implementation of Sysco product tiering.
  • Managing critical timelines for tasks associated with each project.
  • Sourcing all food samples internally and externally for panels and benchmarking.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food and have prior experience in food product development, ideally within the food technology, manufacturing, or hospitality sectors. You should have some project management experience and a solid understanding of commercial business dynamics, enabling effective communication with various stakeholders. The ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team to meet objectives is essential.

Successful applicants must hold a valid UK Driving License and have access to their own vehicle.
