Job Description

Job Title: Psychology Graduate - SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Type: Temporary, with potential for permanence

Location: Lichfield

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am to 15:30pm)

Salary: £13.55 per hour, inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay

About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Psychology graduates to join our team of SEN Teaching Assistants at an OFSTED-rated 'Outstanding' SEN school in Lichfield. As a Psychology Graduate - SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals aged 7 to 18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, as well as autism and associated conditions, to achieve educational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Individual Students: Provide tailored learning activities to support individual students and small groups, promoting their educational and personal development.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Assist in the implementation of IEPs and behaviour management strategies, ensuring students receive the support they need to progress and remain engaged in lessons.
  • Emotional and Social Support: Offer emotional and social support to students, helping them develop confidence and independence.
  • Collaboration with Teachers and Specialists: Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists to adapt classroom activities and materials to meet the needs of all learners.
Requirements
  • Psychology Degree: Hold a Psychology degree (or related field) and be passionate about working with children with SEN.
  • Enhanced Child DBS: Possess an enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Strong Communication Skills: Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience and Empathy: Show patience, empathy, and a resilient mindset, with the ability to handle challenging situations.
