Job Title: Senior Data Cabling Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Cabling Specialist to join our team at CV Library. As a Senior Data Cabling Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the installation, termination, and fault finding of data cabling across various sites in Southampton.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation & Termination:
  2. Perform cable pulling, laying, and associated testing for both copper and fibre optic cabling, including fault finding and proactive resolution.
  3. Install, test, and terminate CAT6/CAT6a copper and fibre optic cabling, wireless access points, and associated containment.
  4. Project Collaboration:
  5. Work alongside Project Managers to ensure adherence to project deadlines.
  6. Read and interpret construction drawings to translate into practical work.
  7. Report progress, site delays, and issues to the Project Manager.
  8. Team Supervision:
  9. Supervise data engineers on-site, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to safety standards.
  10. Conduct toolbox talks and point-of-work risk assessments to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
  11. Attend site briefings and relay key information and messages to the team.
  12. Containment Installation:
  13. Install containment systems including steel wire cable basket, metal conduit, plastic conduit, and plastic trunking.
  14. Quality Assurance:
  15. Ensure all works are carried out according to job sheet specifications and company expectations.
  16. Adaptability:
  17. Adapt to additional duties as required, within the individual's capabilities and consistent with the role's responsibilities.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience in data cabling installation and termination, particularly with CAT6/CAT6a and fibre optic cables.
  2. Strong fault-finding skills and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  3. Experience in supervising and managing teams on-site.
  4. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  6. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  7. Proficient in conducting risk assessments and toolbox talks.
  8. Knowledge of containment installation techniques.
