Position Overview:

The Merchandising Manager at MORI plays a crucial role in overseeing our diverse product portfolio and operational processes. This position demands both strategic vision and a proactive approach to manage an extensive range of over 5,000 SKUs, coordinate multiple storage facilities, and maintain relationships with global suppliers. The ideal candidate will take charge of purchasing and merchandising across various sales platforms, including online retail, physical stores, wholesale, and consignment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement merchandising strategies that align with MORI's business objectives across all product categories and sales channels.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses to provide actionable insights to the management team, aiding in strategic planning.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product team to curate a commercially viable range informed by data insights.
  • Manage budgets effectively to ensure success across product categories, new launches, and core offerings.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to comprehend and fulfill range requirements for each sales channel.
  • Generate weekly trade reports, assess sales performance, and offer trade-based recommendations.
  • Maintain essential supplier relationships by providing monthly business forecasts.
  • Oversee the purchasing process and ensure margin targets are met with suppliers from various countries.
  • Manage inventory levels and stock replenishment to avoid excess stock or shortages.
  • Supervise stock across two warehousing facilities, retail locations, and consignment sites, ensuring optimal inventory levels that align with global strategies and local market demands.
  • Identify and apply industry best practices in merchandising, stock management, and Open to Buy (OTB) strategies.
  • Review and enhance in-season trading through tools such as line flows and WSSI, with support from the broader team.
  • Formulate strategies for efficiently managing slow-moving stock through various methods.
  • Collaborate with Growth and Content teams to propose and execute discount strategies during key markdown periods.
  • Initiate and develop new processes that improve efficiency, accuracy, and profitability within the merchandising function.
  • Lead the merchandising components of system-related projects, including transitioning to a more advanced Inventory Management System (IMS).
  • Guide, mentor, and manage the Merchandising team, overseeing all functions across MORI channels while providing continuous feedback and facilitating professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior Merchandiser or Merchandising Manager in a high SKU consumer goods environment, ideally within the apparel industry.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and familiarity with inventory management systems, including proficiency in Google Sheets, Excel, and Looker; experience with comprehensive IMS management is advantageous.
  • Exceptional Excel proficiency.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex supply chains and logistics.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the capacity to work effectively with international suppliers.
  • In-depth understanding of product costing and global market dynamics.
  • Outstanding leadership and team management abilities, with a talent for motivating and inspiring teams to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering innovative solutions and best practices to intricate merchandising challenges.
