We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at It's a People Business. As a key member of our construction management team, you will play a vital role in the successful delivery of our projects.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct cost estimates, cost planning, and feasibility studies for construction projects.
- Prepare detailed quotations for sign off by our directors and submission to clients or their project teams.
- Prepare subcontract tender documents, including bills of quantities where required, and analyze tender returns.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitiveness and value for money.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Monitor project costs and financial performance, identifying and addressing any deviations from budgets and/or contract sums.
- Provide accurate financial reporting and forecasting to project stakeholders, including clients, their teams, and our directors.
- Manage variations and change orders, assessing their impact on project costs and timelines.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, measure quantities, and resolve commercial issues.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and value engineering initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Participate in project meetings and provide commercial advice and support to the project team as required.
- You are a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a natural talent for building positive and long-lasting professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
- You have a strong client-centric mindset and a positive attitude.
- You are passionate and enthusiastic about what you do and working within a small team within a growing business.
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- You are a member of a relevant professional body, such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
- You have proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, preferably with a contractor.
- You have a desire to learn and develop, both professionally and personally.
- You have a strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management principles.
- You have excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and financial information.
- You are proficient in using relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Excel and industry-specific quantity surveying tools.
- You have excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- You are detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in all work activities.
- You are able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- You are flexible to travel to project sites as required.
- A competitive salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
- 20 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays.
- A statutory pension scheme.
