Are you seeking a rewarding opportunity in the utilities sector?
Affinity Water is excited to present a role for a Water Quality Technician to join our dedicated team in Staines.
As a Water Quality Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining water safety and quality, ensuring that our customers receive optimal service when they access their water supply.
Key Responsibilities:
Your role will involve visiting various water treatment facilities, reservoirs, and other Affinity Water locations to collect water samples across our operational region.
You will conduct routine, non-routine, and random sampling throughout our supply area, working autonomously to fulfill your daily tasks. This position may require you to engage with customers for sample collection in residential neighborhoods, so comfort in entering homes is essential.
The role involves significant driving, and you should be a confident driver willing to travel considerable distances. A full and clean UK/Manual driving license is required. You will be provided with a company vehicle for your travels between sites.
Qualifications and Skills:
You should excel in time management, adhere to deadlines, and be comfortable working independently.
While experience in the water or utilities sector is advantageous, it is not mandatory, as we are committed to providing the necessary training to equip you with industry knowledge and best practices.
When not engaged in outdoor sampling, you will be stationed at our laboratories in Staines, where you will perform essential administrative duties such as data entry and sample logging into our internal systems.
Proficiency in core IT applications, particularly MS Excel, is expected.
Given the customer-facing nature of this role, strong communication skills and experience in public interaction are essential.
This position also requires participation in a weekend and out-of-hours standby rota to ensure operational support is always available. (Additional compensation will be provided for this duty.)
Interview Process:
The selection process consists of two stages:
- First stage: A Microsoft Teams interview (approximately 45 minutes)
- Second stage: An in-person interview at our Staines facility, where you will meet the hiring managers, gain a comprehensive understanding of the daily responsibilities of a Water Quality Technician at Affinity Water, and have the chance to meet the Sampling Team, ask questions, and participate in a practical assessment of water sampling techniques.
If you are shortlisted, the Talent Acquisition Partner overseeing this role will reach out to discuss the next steps and arrange your interview.
Benefits:
Competitive salary range: £25,091 - £28,452 (based on skills and experience). Working hours: 08:00am - 16:00pm (Monday - Thursday) and 08:00am - 15:30pm (Friday).
