We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Cathay Care Home. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the high-quality food and beverages are prepared and delivered to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of food and beverages
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
  • Receive, check, and store kitchen deliveries safely
  • Implement safe food handling practices
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and appliances
  • Ensure the kitchen area is well-presented and maintained
  • Practice safe systems of work across various tasks
  • Understand and adhere to Health and Safety at Work legislation
  • Act professionally and courteously at all times
  • Contribute to a team environment and encourage collaboration
  • Advise and liaise with management on supply and quality of items
  • Responsible for safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment
  • Read, understand, and adhere to company policies and procedures

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide domestic cleaning services within the care home
  • Undertake hygienic work practices in the care home environment
  • Remove refuse and maintain a clean environment
  • Assist with the daily well-being of residents and help them settle into their new environment
  • Ensure Health and Safety, infection prevention, and control, and fire safety within the laundry and wider care environment
  • Work with other staff to ensure an effective laundry service

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Understanding of safe food handling practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
