About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Planning Officer to join our dynamic and growing team dealing with major development proposals across Essex. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing complex cases and leading or playing a major role in achieving larger/high-profile projects across a range of service/partnership areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage complex cases and lead or play a major role in achieving larger/high-profile projects
  • Develop and implement effective planning strategies and policies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and members to deliver policy outcomes
  • Represent the council at plan examinations, public inquiries, and other forums
  • Build effective relationships with key agencies and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Education to degree level or equivalent by experience with an MRTPI qualification
  • Substantial post-qualification experience from either District Councils or the private sector
  • Continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional areas
  • Postgraduate management qualification (Certificate in Management) desirable
