We are seeking a skilled Investigator to join our team at the Major Crime Unit (MCU) in Lincolnshire. As an Investigator, you will play a crucial role in investigating major crimes, gathering evidence, and working closely with other departments to ensure the highest quality of service to all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Investigate major crimes, including interviewing suspects, gathering evidence, and preparing case files in accordance with court deadlines and legislation.
- Work collaboratively with other departments, such as PVP, CID, and Local Policing, to ensure effective response to major crime incidents.
- Develop and record proportionate investigation plans and strategies, prioritizing lines of enquiry and maximizing the gathering of material.
- Conduct or coordinate all aspects of the investigation process, ensuring compliance with the Victims Charter and relevant legislation.
- Interview victims of crime and other witnesses, identifying when victims are significant or vulnerable and taking relevant measures.
- Apply investigation procedures to ensure timely response to and conclusion of all enquiries.
- Gather, develop, and use intelligence effectively to enhance investigations and inform other departments/line management of identified risks and safeguarding concerns.
- Prepare case files within designated timescales, ensuring legislative compliance and presenting to the Magistrates and Crown Courts.
- Attend court and give evidence in relation to investigations within your personal knowledge or involvement.
- Represent the organization by attending multi-agency meetings/case-conferences and other meetings as required.
- PIP1 qualification
- Previous experience of gathering information and/or data from third parties, researching, and interviewing techniques.
- Previous experience of problem-solving and decision-making with an ability to critically analyze material.
- Previous experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
- Previous experience of working with confidential/sensitive material.
- Sound knowledge of IT skills, including Microsoft, Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to effectively use force IT systems following training.
- Preparedness to undergo Management Vetting and drug screening.
- Ability to carry out investigatory duties and gather evidence at various locations, including at the home of the member of the public, crime scenes, or on police premises.
- Capability to travel within Lincolnshire or wider on occasion to undertake assignments, requiring a full UK driving license.
