The Document Controller plays a crucial role by reporting directly to the Line Maintenance Manager, serving as the primary liaison for all technical documentation and information. This position is responsible for providing leadership and oversight in the development and execution of all Continuing Airworthiness Records activities, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency while minimizing costs.
Utilizing extensive subject matter expertise, the Document Controller will conduct quality assurance activities on work packages, meticulously recording and reporting any discrepancies.
Participation in Maintenance meetings (such as PIRMS, PORMS, and Fleet Planning) is essential to discuss resource requirements and availability.
The individual in this role will oversee various activities to ensure the integrity, safety, accessibility, retention, and proper disposal of technical documents within the aircraft maintenance organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all Airworthiness Records activities are thoroughly documented and maintained in relevant systems.
- Monitoring compliance with technical instructions and providing feedback to engineering operations upon completion.
- Conducting audits of the Integrated Management System (IMS) for data integrity at designated intervals.
- Preparing documentation for aircraft land-aways and consolidating data in the IMS upon aircraft return.
- Leading the creation and publication of performance indicators to demonstrate the configuration, quality, and integrity of the aircraft's Airworthiness Records.
- Providing guidance on modification or configuration status.
- Managing the development and publication of performance indicators for Continuing Airworthiness Records.
- At a tactical level, coordinating information from Continuing Airworthiness Records and interfacing with Maintenance Tasking, Part 145 organizations, Fleet Planning, Reliability Programs, and other key stakeholders to meet Continuing Airworthiness standards.
- Overseeing the effectiveness of Continuing Airworthiness Records processes and ensuring that escalated issues are assessed and resolved effectively.
Key Accountabilities:
- Performance Management: Ensure effective management of Continuing Airworthiness Records activities by establishing delivery targets, monitoring progress, and developing improvement programs.
- Activity Completion: Ensure all activities are documented appropriately and maintained by qualified personnel. Facilitate integration within the business and engage stakeholders throughout the process.
- Compliance with Procedures: Ensure the team's adherence to the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME) and associated procedures and standards.
- Safety Management: Promote the application of Human Factors, Error Management, Risk Management, and Safety Assurance within the team.
- Management System Assurance: Oversee the application of the MAA/CAA system within airworthiness records, supporting audits and responding to findings promptly.
- Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Continuing Airworthiness regulatory framework and ensure compliance with all relevant requirements.
- Contractual Compliance: Ensure adherence to all applicable contractual obligations and support contract reviews.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Act as an authorized demander for F&L.
- Manage hazardous waste in line maintenance.
- Maintain line stationery.
- Report building faults.
- Maintain the NDT register and act as the point of contact.
Qualifications and Functional Knowledge:
- Minimum BTEC level 3 in a relevant Data Management or Technical discipline, or Part 66 Category C qualified, or suitable equivalent.
- Recent experience in a Maintenance & Support environment, with significant direct experience in managing Continuing Airworthiness Records.
- Proven experience as a Team Leader in related disciplines, demonstrating strong leadership skills.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Broad product knowledge and understanding of interfacing areas.
- Able to analyze and interpret data effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of current IT software used in Continuing Airworthiness Records.
- Good understanding of Project Management techniques.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and project management skills, with experience in Lean management principles.
- Human Factors and ITAR Awareness training.
- Proficient in IT applications.
