Join Essex County Council as a Principal Arboricultural Consultant and play a key role in delivering high-quality arboricultural services to clients across the UK.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and qualified arboricultural consultant to lead the provision of arboricultural services, including specialist planning advice, highway tree management, and large-scale arboricultural assessments and surveys.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver commercial and operational arboricultural services, including a demanding caseload of enquiries and managing contractors.
  • Collect, analyse, and present complex data, evidence, and advice to recognised standards.
  • Lead the development and review of complex plans, policies, and guidance.
  • Commercially develop our ecology offer, bidding on high-value opportunities, and managing high-value projects and contracts.
  • Build a professional, client-focused culture and high-level client relationships.
  • Lead the development and delivery of promotional and learning material, training activities, and events.
  • Build a collaborative, high-performance culture and lead effective team working.
Requirements
  • Educated to RQF level 6 (Bachelor's degree) with evidence of substantial post-qualification experience.
  • Qualified Professional Tree Inspector with strong evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Authoritative technical and subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge and experience of development management and planning policy, legislation, and enforcement standards and guidance.
  • Effective people management skills with experience of employee performance and development.
  • Strong understanding of wellbeing and H&S, with ability to identify and implement safe working practices.
  • Good understanding of commercial practices, with accomplished negotiation and communication skills.
  • Able to lead specialist and multi-disciplinary project teams and manage multiple, large-scale and complex, projects from concept through to completion.
