Job Title: Chief Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Officer to lead our team at West Devon Community & Voluntary Services. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and overall management of the charity, ensuring the delivery of our services and projects.

About the Role:
  • Leadership and Advocacy: Provide leadership in our community, strengthening our sector's voice and influence on key decision-makers and funders.
  • Partnerships and Collaborations: Create and nurture opportunities for collaborative working by building networks and partnerships between local organisations and strategic partners.
  • Community Development: Provide practical support to local voluntary and community organisations, enabling them to develop and strengthen their services.
  • Active Citizenship: Encourage and nurture volunteering opportunities, driving positive change locally.
  • Health and Wellbeing Projects: Deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes through our projects, such as Social Prescribing, Hospital Discharge, and HOPE workshop facilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve our organisational goals.
  • Lead and manage a team of staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of our services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, funders, and community groups.
  • Ensure the effective management of our resources, including finances, personnel, and assets.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of our services and projects, making recommendations for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in the charity sector.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of the charity sector and its challenges, with a commitment to the values and principles of the sector.
