Lead Mergers and Acquisitions Specialist for Energy Companies

This is a senior-level position that requires a high degree of expertise in mergers and acquisitions, particularly in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the company's M&A efforts, identifying and evaluating potential targets, and negotiating deals.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough due diligence on potential targets, including financial analysis and commercial evaluation.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive M&A strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives.
- Lead negotiations with target companies, including the development of commercial terms and definitive agreements.
- Manage the overall project, including the selection and onboarding of advisors.
- Ensure compliance with process stage gates and approvals, and manage business portfolio.
- Support the law department in antitrust clearance activities and internal proponent organizations in post-acquisition integration activities.
- Strong M&A background with extensive experience in financial valuation modeling, due diligence, commercial negotiations, and transaction structuring.
- Adequate understanding of financial analysis, valuation methodologies, and commercial principles of transactions.
- Industry expertise or knowledge in specific venturing activities, such as commercialization, spin-offs, or joint venturing.
- Good interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of a variety of MS Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work under stress.
- Attention to detail, with a high degree of control and emphasis on quality.
- Strong team player, with the ability to demonstrate initiative, dynamism, and creativity.
- Fluency in English (and other languages if possible).
- Solid understanding of commercial business models in various sectors, including oil and gas.
- Experience with risk reporting and risk dashboard.
- Understanding of portfolio management principles.
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification are advantageous.
