Position Overview: We are seeking a talented Automation Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at a prominent engineering firm.


Role Purpose: The primary objective of this position is to deliver software engineering design and support services for a diverse range of offshore, subsea, and marine initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in hands-on commissioning of systems and facilitate the transition to clients.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including design foundations, detailed functional specifications, and testing procedures.
  • Program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems for various marine applications, such as ballast systems, alarm systems, propulsion systems, and energy storage systems.
  • Develop design concepts and create detailed designs, encompassing full lifecycle software design, I/O lists, alarm lists, design reports, cause & effect matrices, and FMECA.
  • Conduct startup, commissioning, factory acceptance testing, and, when necessary, site commissioning, integration, and acceptance testing.
  • Compile final project closeout documentation, including drawing updates, operation and maintenance manuals, and spare parts lists.
  • Travel internationally for short durations to support commissioning, site integration, and after-sales service activities.


Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proficient in programming with Siemens TIA Portal.
  • Experienced in HMI and SCADA system programming.
  • Strong technical writing skills and meticulous record-keeping.
  • Possess a valid UK passport and be open to travel as required to assist clients.


Additional Skills:

  • Extensive experience with variable speed drives, switchgear, and instrumentation systems.
  • Electrical design experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to transform designs from concept to execution, producing specifications, designs, and reports from inception.
