Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire data center (DC) environment within the Gemini testing facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, completing necessary checks and assurances.
  • Assist with both new and ongoing construction requirements.
  • Plan and execute automated equipment power shutdowns.
  • Engage with suppliers, team members, and peers to evaluate site solutions when necessary.
  • Contribute to the power reduction initiative across Adastral Park, acting as a power ambassador for Gemini.
  • Identify and promote best practices or enhancements to foster continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate the use of automation for scheduling power downs.
  • Ensure all projects utilize the most efficient power solutions while minimizing costs for BT and its clients.
  • Manage power demand and throughput for the team, effectively communicating with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Provide development and coaching support to team members.
  • Identify and implement solutions to power-related challenges.
  • Monitor power savings and communicate contributions to BT's broader energy-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure that firmware on all intelligent Power Distribution Units (iPDUs) is current.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 18th Edition (BS 7671/wiring regulations) as specified by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).
  • DC power accreditation in accordance with BT standards.
  • Proven ability to plan, schedule, and execute DC installations.
  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in network power, space, and cooling solutions.
  • Effective stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with peers, leadership teams, and the broader community.
  • Competence in influencing and resolving conflicts.
  • Solid commercial awareness.
  • Capability to mentor, support, and develop others.
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to power-related work.
  • Experience in conducting on-site risk assessments, identifying hazards before and during work.
  • Adherence to all ISO audit requirements, including 14001 and 45001.

Experience Expectations

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a related field.
  • Certified Portable Appliance Tester (PAT).
  • Expertise in delivering to a prioritized work stack.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to provide timely solutions at optimal costs.
  • Ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes within set timeframes.
