Job Overview

Milestone Infrastructure is seeking a highly skilled Area Manager to lead our Highway Maintenance and Street Lighting operations in Peterborough.

This is a key role within our operations team, responsible for delivering high-quality services and ensuring the safety of our employees and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of our Highway Maintenance and Street Lighting teams.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage the winter service and emergency call-out process to ensure minimal disruption to services.
  • Lead the behavioural safety programme (It Starts With Me) to promote a culture of safety within the team.
  • Manage the utilisation of the Causeway works order management system to optimise resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve commercial performance and meet forecast targets.
  • Ensure the depot working areas are maintained in line with Milestone HS&E policies and procedures.
  • Report to the Operations Manager on all aspects of the Area performance and undertake delegated duties.
Requirements
  • Industry-related professional qualification, degree, or HNC equivalent.
  • Experience in highway maintenance and street lighting operations management.
  • Skilled and competent in the use of general MS tools.
  • Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or equivalent.
  • NRSWA or equivalent.
  • CSCS card holder or equivalent.
  • Detailed understanding of health and safety management and the requirements of CDM.
  • Budget management and cost control skills.
  • Experience of line management.
