Role Overview

As an essential member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient functioning of mechanical systems within our infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Shift Manager, your responsibilities will encompass the management of mechanical equipment, conducting maintenance and repairs, and maintaining accurate documentation. Your tasks will include interpreting technical schematics, diagnosing faults, and executing various maintenance activities. You will also be responsible for operating vehicles, adhering to Health & Safety regulations, and ensuring the readiness of equipment for use. This position requires a proficient and flexible Maintenance Technician dedicated to preserving vital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Familiarize yourself with the operation of all mechanical systems within our infrastructure projects, both under normal and emergency conditions, and be capable of operating these systems under local or remote control.
  • Execute Planned Maintenance and repair work on a variety of mechanical equipment, including pumps, fans, and piping systems.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including daily logs and maintenance reports.
  • Interpret technical drawings and perform fault diagnosis and repairs independently.
  • Conduct all types of Civil and Mechanical Maintenance tasks within the scope of a Mechanical Technician, with or without direct oversight.
  • Undertake any manual, semi-skilled, or skilled work as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Operate various vehicles as needed, particularly for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety standards and adopt safe working practices at all times.
  • Maintain vehicles, plant, and equipment to ensure they are safe and operational.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintain accurate driver logs in accordance with company protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and work safely in line with policies to facilitate the prompt resolution of hazards.
  • Perform any additional duties as required by Line Managers within the capacity of a Maintenance Technician.

Work Schedule

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will operate on a 4-on 4-off shift pattern, alternating between day and night shifts. Compensation is based on an average of 42 hours per week.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Recognized Mechanical Qualification or Apprenticeship.
  • Possession of (or willingness to obtain) relevant safety certifications, including CSCS Safety Card, MEWPS (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms), and Confined Spaces training.
  • Experience in routine maintenance and repairs of various equipment, including pumps and fans.
  • Practical experience in maintaining or servicing mechanical plant equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to reference maintenance manuals and technical drawings.
  • Comprehensive experience in welding, plumbing, and manufacturing using workshop machinery.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with G39 working near DNO equipment.
