We are pleased to present a unique role for an Independent Prescribing Clinician to enhance our Urgent Care service during out-of-hours periods, including evenings and weekends. This position entails a commitment of 20 hours per week across various Urgent Care locations.
Role Overview
As a key member of Medvivo's multidisciplinary team, you will provide essential care to individuals utilizing our Integrated Urgent Care Service. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Conducting face-to-face consultations at our Primary Care Centres.
- Performing home visits for patients unable to travel, supported by a fully equipped medical vehicle.
- Engaging in triage activities at our Head Office.
Your expertise will be vital in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and referring patients with various acute conditions. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Functioning as an autonomous practitioner to deliver clinical assessments and treatments for both adult and pediatric patients.
- Effectively triaging and prioritizing patient cases, utilizing various techniques to gather medical histories.
- Facilitating home visits with the support of a medical vehicle and driver.
- Making appropriate referrals to alternative care settings as necessary.
Support and Collaboration
Throughout your shifts, you will have access to remote support from senior clinicians, ensuring a collaborative environment.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant professional qualification, such as a registered nurse or paramedic, along with a non-medical prescribing certification.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven ability to work independently during both in-hours and out-of-hours.
- Progress towards or completion of an MSc in Advanced Practice.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in clinical practice.
- Training in physical assessment and clinical reasoning.
- Comprehensive understanding of emergency care pathways.
- Awareness of primary health care challenges within diverse populations.
