About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Advocacy and Support Specialist to join our team at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high-quality PALS service to patients, their families, and carers, responding to concerns, enquiries, and requests for advice.
  • Manage a caseload of PALS cases, resolving issues to the satisfaction of the enquirer and identifying lessons learned and action taken to improve patient care and experience.
  • Work closely with multi-professional teams to provide advice and support to patients and their families, helping them to navigate the healthcare system.
  • Develop and maintain close links with external bodies that support service users, promoting a collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve patient experience and outcomes.
  • Provide training and support to staff on patient advocacy and support, promoting a culture of patient-centered care.
Requirements
  • Education to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, such as healthcare or social care.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of the NHS and its policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to patient-centered care and a patient advocacy approach.
  • Knowledge of patient services and pathways, as well as experience of working with QSiS (Datix) database and Epic systems.
