GSL Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our client secondary school in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will provide support to children with special educational needs, ensuring all students can access education in a way that works best for them.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing individualized support to students with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, emotional and behavioral difficulties, or sensory impairments.
  • Working closely with the classroom teacher to adapt learning materials to the student's needs.
  • Encouraging students to collaborate and communicate with one another.
  • Managing challenging behavior and implementing strategies to promote positive behavior.
  • Providing help with mobility, feeding, personal hygiene, and other daily tasks.
  • Supporting learning beyond the classroom, such as organizing trips or supporting extra-curricular activities.

Requirements:

  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support.
  • Training in behavior management and de-escalation techniques is desirable.
  • Experience working with children who have a variety of disabilities and/or learning difficulties.
  • Knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD, and SEMH.
