Position Overview

The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew is seeking to fill two positions for Mechanical Engineers within our Estates division. These professionals play a crucial role in enhancing the operational efficiency of our estates team. You will collaborate closely with the M&E Manager to ensure the effective delivery of mechanical services maintenance, which encompasses both planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, identifying problems, procuring spare parts, and overseeing remedial actions.

This role will also contribute to key functions within the Estates department, including: Capital Projects, Sustainability initiatives, Compliance standards, and Facilities management, while also providing support to the Estates Helpdesk by offering expert advice and reviewing proposals.

This position is integral to the Estates department, requiring interaction with various teams and departments across the organization. The focus will be on fostering excellence within the Estates framework, ensuring outstanding service delivery that aligns with the overall objectives of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance mechanical systems through effective maintenance strategies.
  • Collaborate with the M&E Manager on service delivery and project execution.
  • Utilize CAFM systems for managing workload and maintenance schedules.
  • Engage with BMS systems regularly to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or have extensive experience and knowledge in building management and engineering.

Experience Requirements

Significant experience in a dynamic environment is essential, particularly with PPM schedules and reactive maintenance.
