NRS is also engaged in the management of hydroelectric power generation at the Maentwrog facility. Within our organization, NRS Dounreay focuses on the clean-up and dismantling of the previous center for fast reactor research and development.
Role OverviewThis position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our vital mission of managing the UK's civil nuclear legacy safely and effectively. Key Responsibilities- Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder expectations for assigned initiatives.
- Develop conceptual designs and engineering solutions that are fit for purpose.
- Produce, review, or approve technical specifications related to projects.
- Oversee detailed design activities in compliance with design authority standards and relevant regulations.
- Prepare modification proposals as necessary and serve as a Nominated Responsible Engineer (NRE) for plant modifications.
- Provide technical supervision during commissioning and/or decommissioning phases.
- Manage the project handover process to ensure all documentation and training are completed as required.
- Maintain site configuration control of all relevant documentation and drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of an HNC or equivalent NQF level 4 engineering qualification.
- Experience in a mechanical engineering role within an industrial setting.
- Background in nuclear and/or conventional project engineering.
- Familiarity with national engineering standards.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and risk assessment methodologies.
