Job Summary:

The Hamilton Mayday is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the management of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
  • Ensure that all food is freshly prepared and presented to the highest standards, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and exceptional culinary skills.
  • Manage the kitchen team, including training and development, to ensure that all staff are equipped to deliver high-quality food and service.
  • Contribute to the development of new menu ideas and concepts, working closely with the Head Chef and other members of the culinary team.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including inventory management, stock control, and staff performance.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen environment, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality food and service.
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and presentation.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Financial awareness and budgeting skills, with the ability to manage kitchen resources effectively.
