About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Policy Lead to join our team at the CBI (Confederation of British Industry). As a key member of our policy team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the CBI's tax policy agenda and advocating for the interests of our members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Development
    • Develop and implement tax policies that support the growth and competitiveness of UK businesses.
    • Work closely with the CBI's wider policy team to ensure that tax policy is aligned with our overall business agenda.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including HM Treasury, HMRC, and professional bodies.
    • Represent the CBI at key international meetings on tax, including Business Europe and Business at OECD (BIAC).
  • Communication and Lobbying
    • Draft clear and compelling CBI consultation responses on tax policy issues.
    • Work with the CBI's press team to maximize media coverage of our tax policy work.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • CTA, ATT, ADIT, ACA or ACCA qualified (desirable).
  • Skills and Experience
    • A good knowledge of the tax policy landscape and the tax debate in the UK.
    • A keen interest in tax and economic policy with an awareness of UK politics and government.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strategic thinking and ability to adapt to take into account various tax and non-tax considerations.
    • Persuasive influencing skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Outstanding collaboration and an ability to work with people from other disciplines, including economics, commercial, political and policy.
    • Ability to work at pace/under pressure.
    • Commercial awareness.
