Assistant Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Assistant Accountant to join our team at Platinum Recruitment Consultancy. As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial team by completing routine clerical and accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Weekly Cash Flow Forecasts: Prepare and analyze weekly cash flow forecasts to ensure accurate financial planning.
  • Monthly Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations: Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Weekly Management Accounts: Assist in preparing weekly management accounts to provide insight into the company's financial performance.
  • Monthly Journals: Create and process monthly journals, including pre-payments, accruals, depreciation, and other financial transactions.
  • Month-End Closing Process: Work with the financial controller to manage the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Financial Reports: Prepare and analyze financial reports on an ad-hoc and regular basis to provide insight to the finance team and wider management team.
  • VAT Returns: Ensure accurate and timely VAT returns are submitted.
  • Variance Analysis and Financial KPI Reports: Analyze financial variances and produce financial KPI reports to inform business decisions.
Requirements:
  • Work Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar accounting role.
  • Knowledge of Bookkeeping Procedures: Strong knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and financial regulations.
  • Math Skills: Excellent math skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Accounting Software: Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software, such as Sage.
  • Organization Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial information.
  • Qualifications: BSc/Ba in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field, or AAT 4 qualified/Certified by experience.
