They are seeking an Environmental Studies Educator to cover a vacancy for the upcoming term, with the potential for a longer-term engagement if the fit is mutually beneficial.

The position entails instructing Environmental Studies primarily to students in Year 7 through Year 11, focusing on GCSE classes (Key Stages 3 and 4). A minimum of one year’s experience teaching Environmental Studies at the GCSE level is required, along with a PGCE in the relevant subject. A Head of Department role is available for the right candidate.

This medium-sized, community-oriented Secondary Academy is in search of a specialist in Environmental Studies to join a well-established team of educators and become part of a supportive Senior Leadership Team. The institution prides itself on maintaining high standards of behavior among students, fostering a positive learning environment. They are dedicated to enhancing community engagement and achieving excellent outcomes in academics, arts, and sports.

Contract Details

This role is intended to be permanent for the suitable candidate, commencing with a probationary period through our temp-to-perm program. You will be regarded as a permanent staff member from the outset, participating in all Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities and sessions. Responsibilities include planning, marking, and delivering Environmental Studies lessons to your assigned Key Stage 3 and 4 classes, with designated PPA time included. The working hours are from 8:15 AM to 3:25 PM.

Compensation

Remuneration will align with the National Teacher Pay Scale, ranging from M1 to UPS1, calculated on a daily rate basis.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The preferred candidate will possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE in Environmental Studies
  • A minimum of one year’s experience teaching up to Key Stage 4
  • In-depth knowledge of the GCSE Environmental Studies curriculum
  • A passion for teaching and fostering a love for learning in Environmental Studies
  • Proven track record of effective classroom management and high expectations for student achievement
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging and innovative Environmental Studies lessons
