Job Title: Research Associate in Leukaemia Biology

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate to join our team at the Personalised Medicine Centre (PMC), School of Medicine, Altnagelvin Area Hospital, Derry~Londonderry.

Job Purpose:

The AICRIstart programme is a foundation stone for the All-Island Cancer Research Institute (AICRI) and will build critical mass in precision cancer medicine on the island of Ireland. The programme is funded by a €4 million Strand III Higher Education Academy (HEA) North-South Award and involves ten academic institutions. As part of this network, we are now seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work as part of a collaborative project based on chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research in the field of CLL, investigating the host-microbe interaction with the aim to identify early signs of immune deterioration in the microbiome.
  • Work as part of a dynamic and collaborative research group that values research excellence, translational impact, and a vibrant research culture.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and clinicians to develop and implement research projects.
  • Contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications.
  • Present research findings at national and international conferences.
Requirements:
  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g. cancer biology, immunology, microbiology).
  • Experience in research in the field of CLL or a related area.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
