Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Tutor to support Permanently Excluded (PEX) students in the Redcar area.

As a Tutor, you will work closely with the Local Authority to provide personalized tuition that helps these students re-engage with their education, develop their skills, and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver tailored one-to-one or small group sessions in core subjects (Maths, English, Science) and/or vocational skills, according to each student's needs and learning plan.
  • Facilitate academic and personal development to help students transition back into mainstream education, alternative provision, or further training.
  • Assess, record, and write short reports on student progress, adapting teaching methods to meet changing needs and overcome learning barriers.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to ensure a supportive learning environment at home.
  • Uphold and promote child protection and safeguarding policies, ensuring a safe and positive learning experience for all students.
Requirements:
  • Experience of working with students who have been excluded or have Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Strong knowledge of the UK curriculum and effective teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in alternative education settings or pupil referral units (PRUs).
  • Knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies for engaging learners.
