This opportunity is tailored for individuals already engaged in television production who aspire to specialize in script coordination. A minimum of 8 credits or equivalent experience on established productions is required for eligibility.

Proficiency in reading and writing Welsh is a crucial requirement for this position.

Role of a Script Coordinator:

The Script Coordinator ensures that each scene is coherent and aligns with the overall narrative, particularly when filming occurs out of sequence.

Responsibilities:

Throughout your training, you will gain insights into the Script Coordinator's role within the production team. From the pre-production phase, where you will assist in preparing continuity breakdowns and schedules, to the filming stage, where you will meticulously monitor each shot to ensure dialogue accuracy and actor positioning.

You will learn to maintain comprehensive written and photographic records of dialogue, actions, costumes, and props, alongside essential camera and lens specifications, including slate and scene numbers. As you progress, you will be expected to compile daily reports independently, working closely with the Script Coordinator to grasp the necessary level of detail and precision.

Trainees will participate in classroom sessions and practical on-set experience during filming pauses. Those who successfully complete the initial training will have the opportunity for further shadowing experience when production resumes.

Understanding the planning, preparation, and documentation essential for production is vital for anyone aspiring to work in television, making this training invaluable. The practical experience will allow trainees to familiarize themselves with equipment and processes without the distractions of active filming.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

To excel in this trainee position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 broadcast production credits or equivalent experience in any role on established productions.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing Welsh is essential.
  • Familiarity with script reading is advantageous; candidates should provide evidence of script engagement through professional, academic, or personal projects.
  • Experience in analyzing scripts or extensive texts and presenting findings clearly and concisely.
  • Background in an administrative role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with examples of meticulous work.
  • Experience in managing conflicting priorities and problem-solving.
  • A genuine interest in soap operas and Welsh dramas.
