About the Role

Key Responsibilities

As an Operations Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • People Management
    • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of legal professionals and operational support staff, providing guidance, direction, and support to ensure high performance and productivity levels.
    • Set clear objectives and KPIs for the team, regularly review and monitor performance, and provide feedback through regular one-to-ones.
    • Support the training and development plans for the team to enhance their competencies.
    • Regularly review talent and capability in the team to manage the talent pipeline.
  • Process Management
    • Coordinate and prioritize activities, ensuring tasks are completed accurately within established deadlines and as per firm policies and procedures.
    • Manage resources, including holidays, absences, and out-of-office days, to minimize business interruption.
    • Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Analyze and interpret data to create and maintain operational efficiency and support management decisions.
  • Operational Management
    • Allocate, delegate, and monitor tasks and activities of the team, managing adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
    • Identify and mitigate operational risks, implementing controls and protocols in line with operational processes.
    • Manage HR processes for the team, including recruitment, induction, training, and performance management.
    Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role, ideally within a legal firm.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legal framework.
  • Ability to input and interpret data.
  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercially aware and knowledgeable about setting and delivering business objectives.
Skills and Competencies

You will need to possess:

  • Excellent people management skills, with experience of recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • An analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data and metrics to make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite and experience with relevant operational software tools.
Qualifications

A recognized legal qualification or management qualification is preferred but not essential.
