Overview

A Store Manager at Pet Pros is tasked with delivering exceptional customer service while overseeing the store's operations. This role is pivotal in driving sales and profitability by effectively managing and nurturing the store team, ensuring optimal product presentation, and maintaining inventory control.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of a Store Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Mastering all operational duties performed by store staff.
  • Training and mentoring employees to guarantee that every customer enjoys a friendly and welcoming experience.
  • Fostering a positive and inviting atmosphere for all team members.
  • Organizing continuous training sessions for staff regarding product knowledge and store policies.
  • Building strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Collaborating with the District Manager to create and execute strategies aimed at achieving store objectives.
  • Managing inventory shrinkage, operational expenses, and payroll effectively.
  • Ensuring that merchandise is displayed appropriately and that the sales floor is well-stocked.
  • Training and supervising team members in standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance and consistency.
  • Conducting regular meetings with management and staff to discuss store performance.
  • Participating in store evaluations with the District Manager and other corporate staff.
  • Continuously training, developing, and assessing team members, while recruiting new talent.
  • Monitoring team performance and providing constructive feedback.
  • Overseeing the recruitment, onboarding, and termination processes in accordance with company policies.
  • Evaluating staff performance through quarterly reviews.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and conducting monthly safety meetings.
  • Safeguarding store merchandise by following established policies and procedures.
  • Undertaking additional duties and projects as assigned.

The physical requirements for this role include regular communication, active engagement, and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 45 pounds. Vision capabilities must include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This role operates within a retail setting, surrounded by merchandise displays and inventory.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with variable hours, requiring flexibility to work during store operating hours, including evenings and weekends.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to other locations for meetings and events may be necessary.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of retail experience.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience managing a retail team.
  • Associate's degree.
