The Global Reward Team, a segment of abrdn's HR division, is responsible for developing and implementing a compensation and recognition framework that attracts, motivates, and retains top talent.

As the Manager of Carried Interest Programs, reporting to the Global Head of Reward, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of Carried Interest Programs for our Private Markets divisions.

Your role will involve utilizing various methods such as benchmarking, market analysis, and a comprehensive understanding of our Private Markets operations to manage the application and review of the philosophy and design parameters for Carried Interest Programs. You will work closely with the business to create and implement new programs, manage existing ones, including maintaining program data, and oversee the program maturity process. Close collaboration with Private Markets divisions globally is essential. You will also ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards and take charge of ongoing program reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Carried Interest Philosophy and Design Parameters: Define and implement the strategy and approach to Carried Interest policy, ensuring alignment with Company remuneration principles and compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. You will be accountable for effective risk management.

Management of Carried Interest Program Processes: Oversee processes and key performance indicators to assist the business in creating, governing, and delivering Carried Interest Programs. You will establish robust process controls, document key procedures, and collaborate with colleagues in the Tax function to ensure ownership and compliance at every stage.

Tracking Existing Program Arrangements: Partner with Private Markets divisions to compile existing programs and maintain a centralized register of participation.

Activities Required for This Role:

Carried Interest Policy: Stay updated on business, market, and regulatory developments to effectively manage Carried Interest philosophy and design parameters. Engage with Private Markets divisions and regional HR functions to ensure consistent application of the philosophy and design parameters. Collaborate with the Global Head of Reward and other colleagues to maintain and apply the Policy uniformly.Carried Interest Processes: Manage the structure, standards, and governance for Carried Interest Program management in conjunction with the business, HR function, and other colleagues. Identify and escalate concerns and risks beyond your role's capabilities.Ongoing Program Lifecycle Maintenance: Maintain program records, key milestone activities, and participation data. Issue and review program documentation as needed and collaborate with business leaders to address any record gaps.Ensuring Legal and Tax Compliance: Work with internal legal and tax experts to ensure compliance with legal, tax, and regulatory requirements. Ensure that program documentation meets legal, tax, and regulatory standards.Ad-hoc Activity: Support Carried Interest-related needs during ad-hoc programs or corporate actions, working within multi-functional teams within and beyond HR.

Essential Candidate Requirements:

Demonstrated experience in creating and managing Carried Interest Programs, with familiarity in program and legal documentation. Understanding of the grant and maturity process is preferable.Awareness of how effective Carried Interest arrangements can support the Private Markets strategy.Strong numerical, analytical, and data management skills with excellent attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Proactive and capable of working independently.Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Desirable:

Experience in project and process management.Exposure to robust risk management processes.Ability to write reports for senior audiences.Skills in relationship management, including influencing senior stakeholders.Familiarity with broader Reward frameworks is advantageous.
