JOB OVERVIEW

Wood is seeking a Senior Principal Technical Safety Engineer to provide leadership in our engineering team. The ideal candidate will serve as the focal point for technical safety aspects within project design teams, overseeing the planning, scheduling, and execution of engineering activities and deliverables, including manhour estimations when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Overseeing discipline activities to align with project schedules and manhour budgets, including personnel requests and daily supervision of engineering staff.
  • Evaluating the Basis of Design (BOD) and the Project Execution Plan (PEP) to ensure compliance and alignment with project goals.
  • Acting as the primary approver for all Technical Safety outputs, including philosophies, calculations, studies, reports, specifications, datasheets, and drawings, while adhering to operational procedures.
  • Collaborating with various engineering disciplines to ensure comprehensive development of deliverables and integration of inputs.
  • Ensuring adherence to relevant specifications and compliance with national and international regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Maintaining communication with Project Management and Clients, providing updates on work status, challenges, and requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving vendor documentation pertinent to the discipline.
  • Coordinating with Purchasing and Estimating Departments to provide technical information for the procurement of Technical Safety equipment and materials.
  • Implementing quality assurance measures in accordance with project, company, and departmental standards.
  • Supervising engineering personnel to ensure quality levels are upheld through adequate review of their work progress.
  • Implementing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures relevant to the Technical Safety Department.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Extensive experience in the Design HSE field across all project phases, including Feasibility, Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC, particularly in Energy Transition, Oil & Gas, Refinery, and Petrochemical sectors.
  • UK Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Preferably a Chartered Engineer and a member of a recognized engineering institution.
  • Significant expertise in various Technical HSE sub-disciplines, such as Process Safety, Fire Protection, Environmental, and Human Factors, with a strong grasp of at least two.
  • Familiarity with 2D drafting and 3D CAD modeling processes.
  • Proficient in relevant software tools, including PHAST, FRED, Safeti, Shephard, FLACS, FlareSIM, Detect3D, Pipenet, and PHA-Pro.
