Job Title: Planning Engineer - Programme Planner

We are seeking an experienced Programme Planner with strong Primavera (P6) skills to join our team as a Planning Engineer - Programme Planner. This is a long-term contract role based between Edinburgh and Cambuslang, with a degree of hybrid working.

Job Purpose Statement

We are looking for a skilled Programme Planner to join our Joint Venture project team to deliver major HVDC infrastructure construction projects within a portfolio of projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating planning and development activities associated with the project, ensuring full programme visibility is maintained through comprehensive monthly programme reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain programme and project plans in collaboration with Programme and Project Managers
  • Ensure supporting schedules are produced in Primavera (P6) to the required standard
  • Assure plans from contractors are robust and provide guidance to team members on the application of planning standards
  • Manage the change control process for the plan, showing change history for audit purposes
  • Track delivery of plan versus baseline and issue reports on plan delivery to stakeholders
  • Conduct a risk analysis of the plan and identify potential threats and risks
Requirements
  • Degree/HND/HNC level qualifications or relative demonstrable experience
  • Experience of leading a planning team to deliver major infrastructure projects
  • Technical planning expert to advanced Primavera level with knowledge and use of other planning tools
  • Self-motivated with sound interpersonal and communication skills
  • Practiced analytical and problem-solving skills
Desirable Skills
  • Experience of working on both Client and Contractor side
  • Working knowledge and experience of Programme/Project Management methodologies such as Prince 2
  • Engineering project background within the electrical utilities industry
