Job Overview

The primary objective of this position is to support the Head of Credit Risk in upholding a robust end-to-end Credit Risk Management framework for Crown Agents Bank (CAB). This role is chiefly tasked with evaluating and consistently monitoring the creditworthiness of the Bank's counterparties, which include financial institutions, sovereign entities, non-bank financial institutions, multilaterals, development organizations, charities, and other non-governmental entities. The incumbent ensures that all credit operations align with approved risk appetite and tolerance levels while collaborating closely with front office business teams and other departments within the Bank to facilitate a seamless credit process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting credit applications for both new and existing clients, delivering comprehensive credit evaluations that encompass analysis and interpretation of financial statements, enabling informed decision-making by credit approval authorities.
  • Participating in Credit Committee meetings, ensuring that inquiries are adequately addressed and that meeting minutes accurately reflect discussions and decisions.
  • Conducting internal credit ratings using the Bank's rating system (Moody's RiskCalc) and performing expected credit loss (ECL) calculations in accordance with the Credit Policy and Procedures, as well as IFRS9 guidelines.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with relevant stakeholders and engaging in client meetings, calls, visits, and transaction-related discussions as necessary.
  • Monitoring market trends, regulatory changes, macroeconomic factors, and political developments, assessing their implications on portfolio credit quality, and ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to mitigate the Bank's credit risk.
  • Preparing scheduled and ad hoc credit reports that cover exposures and credit risk developments, adhering to internal procedures.
  • Ensuring effective credit administration, which includes maintaining credit files, monitoring credit limits, completing annual credit reviews promptly, reviewing documentation, and supporting the fulfillment of terms and conditions set by credit committees and senior management.
  • Assisting in audit preparations and responding to audit inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance credit processes and controls to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Providing support to team members to ensure collective goals and objectives are met.
  • Engaging in Credit projects and initiatives and assisting with additional duties as assigned by the Head of Credit Risk.
Qualifications
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a commercial or numerical discipline, along with relevant professional credentials.
Experience
  • Proven experience in credit analysis with a comprehensive understanding of credit risk pertaining to financial institutions, sovereigns, corporations, and non-bank financial institutions within the financial services sector, preferably in an emerging or frontier market context.
  • Solid grasp of the IFRS9 impairment process; financial modeling skills are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with banking products from a credit risk perspective, including global markets Treasury/FX products and trade finance.
Skills
  • Exceptional technical credit analysis and research capabilities, including financial statement analysis, sector research, and peer analysis.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Ability to convey complex information in a clear and meaningful manner to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize urgent transactions and ensure timely completion of reviews.
  • Desirable language skills in French, Portuguese, or Spanish, with the ability to read and interpret financial documents in these languages.
  • A quick learner, adaptable to new processes and environments.
