Position Overview

As a skilled Blood Collection Specialist, you will be an integral part of the Nursing Team, operating within your professional scope at The Highlands Practice.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary role will involve performing and documenting venepuncture in accordance with established national and clinical guidelines, ensuring that samples are collected in suitable containers with clear and accurate labeling to verify patient identity.

Duties Include:

  • Ensuring patient comfort and obtaining their consent for blood sample collection.
  • Collecting blood samples following proper training and protocols.
  • Storing each sample in the correct containers.
  • Accurately labeling all samples to confirm patient identity.
  • Verifying patient identification whenever feasible.
  • Documenting blood sample collections in patient records as per organizational procedures.
  • Ensuring timely dispatch of samples to the designated laboratories.
  • Reporting any discrepancies to a senior staff member.
  • Informing the clinical team of any significant patient concerns.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a General Practice setting.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy.

Required Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in primary healthcare.

Preferred

  • Experience in a General Practitioner practice.
