North Lincolnshire Council is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Flood Risk Manager to lead the delivery of local flood risk management in North Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will have expertise in drainage and surface water management, particularly in a planning or engineering context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver strategic plans to provide flood risk management to North Lincolnshire as a whole.
  • Provide support to the community in respect of flood and water-related matters, responding to councillor and customer queries on such matters.
  • Provide support and technical advice to the local planning authority as part of their work in validating, assessing, and determining planning applications, pre-application queries, planning enforcement, and defending decisions at appeal.
  • Provide support to other parts of the Council in order to reduce and where possible prevent flooding events.
  • Provide technical advice in respect of other council work as far as drainage and flooding is concerned.
  • Apply for related grants in support of work to prevent and reduce flooding and sustainable urban drainage.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including other departments within the council, our neighbouring councils, water companies, and the Environment Agency to investigate flooding and take enforcement action.
  • Work with key stakeholders to create a safer place for the residents and visitors to North Lincolnshire, whilst achieving the authority aspiration of achieving Carbon Net Zero by 2030.
