Join Our Team as an Automation Engineer
Howden Joinery is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to enhance our Engineering Department at our Manufacturing Site. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the programming and development of automation and control systems, ensuring that our engineering designs are both robust and reliable.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead automation, electrical, and PLC design projects by identifying immediate and long-term challenges; prepare timelines, cost estimates, and comprehensive documentation upon project completion.
- Implement initiatives aimed at improving manufacturing availability, product quality, employee safety, and overall process efficiency.
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing processes and operational sequences, collaborating closely with maintenance teams.
- Utilize automation skills and techniques to foster improvements and share insights with maintenance teams.
- Identify and execute plant/process development opportunities that enhance Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
- Mentor and develop the maintenance engineering team’s understanding of machine control and automation systems.

Shift Pattern:
- Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 6am-6pm
- Week 2: Monday, Tuesday - 6am-6pm; Wednesday, Thursday - 6pm-6am
- Week 3: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday - 6pm-6am
- Followed by 7 days off
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer, Automation/Controls apprentice, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an FMCG environment.
- At least an HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Proficient in fault-finding and implementing program modifications across various PLCs, SCADA, and Robotics.
- Familiarity with parameterization and commissioning of servo drives and inverters.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial communication networks.
- Skilled in designing and modifying control circuits and program logic.
- Experience in managing change activities effectively.
