The Role

We are seeking an experienced Secondary Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs (SEN). As an SEN Secondary HLTA, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students with SEN, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted support to students with SEN, both one-on-one and in small groups, to promote academic and social growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN coordinators to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies.
  • Assist in adapting curriculum materials and resources to meet the needs of SEN students, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and parents/guardians, promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the well-being and academic success of all students.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Secondary HLTA or similar role, with a focus on supporting SEN students.
  • Strong understanding of various SEN conditions and effective strategies for intervention, including behavioral support and accommodations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with best practices in SEN education, ensuring a high level of expertise and knowledge.
