As a Call Handler, you will play a vital role in coordinating patient journeys, ensuring smooth and efficient transportation for those requiring medical assistance. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Booking discharges and transfers from hospitals, often under time-sensitive circumstances.
  • Arranging regular travel for patients undergoing renal or oncology treatments.
  • Communicating with service users 24-48 hours prior to travel to confirm arrangements.
  • Collaborating with road staff, ambulance care assistants, paramedics, patient transport liaison officers (PTLOs), controllers, and dispatchers to guarantee a successful journey for all patients.
  • Demonstrating awareness of safeguarding practices and possessing the knowledge to apply these skills when assisting service users and colleagues.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for service users seeking information or assistance regarding patient transport.
  • Completing incident reports as required.
  • Directing callers to alternative resources if unable to directly address their inquiries.
  • Staying updated on policy changes and procedures.
  • Undertaking all necessary training.
  • Providing support, guidance, and supervision to less experienced staff when needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
