Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, United Kingdom TEC Partners Limited Full time

About the Role

The TEC Partnership is one of England's largest providers of further and higher education, offering a diverse range of pathways for learners. This includes a nursery, 14-16 provision, A Levels, T Levels, Apprenticeships, vocational training, specialist commercial training, Bootcamps, Adult education, and Higher-Level degrees.

Key Responsibilities

Corporation members attend corporation meetings (five times a year), committee meetings (ranging from one to five times a year per committee), a strategic development day, training sessions, and participate in governor engagement activities and events, such as graduation ceremonies, celebrations, shows, and performances.

Benefits of the Role

The role of governor can be highly rewarding, as members of the board can make a real difference for students, staff, communities, and employers. The group is inclusive in their approach, aiming to have a broad range of expertise and backgrounds on the board, sharing knowledge, experience, and advice, while offering diversity of thought and opinions.

Requirements

Applications are welcomed from interested individuals over 18 years old. The group would be particularly interested in encouraging applications from individuals with experience in:

  • Finance and accounting
  • Human resources and talent management
  • Local strategic leadership and community development
  • Community partnerships and outreach
  • Special educational needs and disability (SEND)

These areas are identified in the group's most recent audit of skills of board members. To maintain the composition of the board, which reflects the local community, the group would also encourage applications from those from minority ethnic backgrounds.

Support and Training

Whilst previous knowledge of governance is welcomed, training and support will be provided to ensure the success of the role. Current board members have experience in local and national businesses, education (schools, FE, and HE), the public sector, legal services, and finance.

Commitment to Equality and Diversity

The TEC Partnership is committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the workplace. Safeguarding is a priority, as well as ensuring the welfare of children and young people. The group expects the same commitment from all staff and volunteers.
