About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering critical works to major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are supporting Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and developing technologies in SMR capability, while working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Lifting and Handling Engineer to join our NI&IST Delivery Team. The successful candidate will provide support to the Senior Commissioning Manager during the preparation phase in the development of commissioning scope, including commissioning procedures, instructions, temporary requirements, tools, equipment, and consumables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coach suppliers in the production of commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities.
  • Contribute to design reviews to ensure installation and layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning.
  • Detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests.
  • Take part in the execution of site commissioning activities, including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems.
  • Provide safety leadership in the execution of tests, ensuring that company process and best practice is followed for industrial safety.
  • Analyse commissioning results and guide the production of reports summarising the outcome of commissioning.
  • Ensure that the commissioning activities from conception, execution and reporting, demonstrate compliance with the functional and performance requirements for the equipment.
Requirements
  • Technical background in lifting and handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of legislation for lifting equipment (e.g. LOLER).
  • Hands-on experience on lifting and handling equipment.
  • Conformity assessment for lifting equipment and working with Third Parties.
  • Experience in the design, commissioning, maintenance & operations of fuel route & nuclear safety-classified cranes.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
  • Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others.
