Look no further than Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, where we're seeking a talented Materials Scientist Intern to join our Goodwood manufacturing plant.

About the Role

As a Materials Scientist Intern, you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborating with our experienced team to develop and implement new materials and processes. You'll gain hands-on experience in laboratory research, testing, and analysis, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that drive our business forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory research and testing to develop and analyze new materials and processes
  • Collaborate with our team to design and implement new testing plans and procedures
  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions that drive business growth and improvement
  • Support the development of test methods and the continuous improvement of existing test methods
  • Work closely with process partners to gain deep insights into various areas of the company
Requirements
  • Study of materials science, chemistry, surface technology, plastics technology, mechanical engineering, or a scientifically based education and experience relevant to the role
  • Proven experience in a laboratory environment and practical experience with material analysis in the laboratory is desirable
  • Experience in automotive production is desirable
  • Broad knowledge of production processes and the BMW Group's wider business to support technical knowledge is desirable
  • Analytical thinking, ability to work in a team, IT skills, and a structured way of working
  • High level of self-motivation and reliability
  • Ability to work alone or in a multi-functional team
  • Very good communication and presentation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of problem resolution techniques and/or project management
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and Environmental impacts
  • Valid UK driving license
  • German language ability is desirable

  • A competitive annual salary of £25,300
  • 27 days holiday per annum (pro rata to your contract)

  • Contracted working hours of 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday
