**Job Title:** Machine Operator - Production Specialist
**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Operator - Production Specialist to join our team at Wright Staff. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating production machines/equipment/processes in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate production machines/equipment/processes to produce products to the quality standards required and achieve output standards set.
- Apply best practice standards in all areas of Health and Safety, quality produced, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data recording.
- Demonstrate good housekeeping and ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is maintained and used as prescribed.
- Create and maintain accurate records relating to machine outputs and downtime, ensuring all paperwork including start-up check sheets is completed daily.
- Actively support Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and all assigned Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) requirements.
- Assist with Risk Assessments and all safety improvement activities.
- Actively participate in all continuous improvement activities/initiatives and Kaizen events, proactively identifying and making recommendations for improvements.
- Train other operators as required and share experience, best practices, and relevant knowledge with colleagues.
- Carry out hand assembly work and general duties as required.
- Perform any other duties as required by the Production Manager.
Requirements:
- Good standard of education.
- Good standard of written English and Math's.
- Good communication skills and attitude.
- Understanding and use of measuring equipment – ruler, scales, etc.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Time-served machine operator.
- Knowledge/experience of mechanical/electrical PLC and Pneumatic systems.
- Experience in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement techniques and tools (5S, Kaizen, etc.).
- Machine setting experience.
- Experience of statistical process control (SPC).
- Minimum skill requirements.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Broad knowledge of equipment types – packaging and processing.
- Awareness of modern technology.
- Good communication skills and attitude.
- Team player.
- Flexible – able to work shifts and cover overtime when required.
- Competent and self-motivated.
