Position Overview

This role presents a unique opportunity for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to leverage their specialized expertise in establishing and guiding a pioneering Speech and Language Therapy team within the community. You will collaborate closely with and provide mentorship to junior therapists.

Your clinical proficiency will focus on addressing communication challenges faced by the elderly, particularly in the area of dysphagia (disorders related to eating, drinking, and swallowing). You will manage your own caseload within the community and offer expert guidance to our healthcare facilities.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the dignity and quality of life for older adults, possess strong organizational skills, and have a comprehensive understanding of cognitive impairments and dementia. You will work in conjunction with other Allied Health Professionals and our multi-disciplinary Memory Service and Community Teams. Regular supervision and opportunities for peer support will be provided to ensure your professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide professional insights to enhance existing services and inform future developments.

- Conduct highly specialized clinical interventions.

- Offer Speech and Language Therapy guidance to other disciplines, including training and support as necessary.

- Assume leadership responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Older Persons Community Therapy (Mental Health).

- Engage in research and initiatives that align with the Trust's strategy for Allied Health Professions.
