Global Highland is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to oversee our engineering operations.
The primary objective of this position is to manage all facets of an engineering shift, while providing substantial support to the Engineering Manager in the effective operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure adherence to legal requirements and safe working practices as outlined in Risk Assessments, Method Statements, work instructions, and management guidelines.
• Foster effective communication among all team members, including staff, management, other supervisors, and departments.
• Facilitate smooth handovers between shifts to maintain operational continuity.
Team Development
• Take charge of enhancing team skills through skill assessments, cross-training individuals, and establishing a comprehensive training program.
• Monitor workflow to ensure effective communication and task continuity between shifts.
• Ensure that every task is successfully transitioned to the next shift or continued to minimize downtime.
Operational Excellence
• Dedicate time during shifts to familiarize yourself with machinery, identify problem areas, and collaborate with operators to devise solutions, documenting progress in the maintenance system.
• Ensure all team members are actively engaged in work or training throughout the shift.
• Focus on reducing unit downtime and improving the uptime performance of key production units.
Planning and Maintenance
• Prepare and submit a planned work schedule for dayshift, backshift, and weekend shifts to the Engineering Manager for approval.
• Identify training needs for team members and develop a training plan accordingly.
• Achieve proactive and planned maintenance targets during backshift and weekend periods, while meeting reactive maintenance targets during dayshift.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
• A background in industrial mechanical engineering with a solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Relevant qualifications such as HNC/HND/C&G or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in maintaining hydraulic systems and pipework/hose assembly is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Proficiency in working with and repairing heavy-duty machinery.
• Strong computer skills.
Please note that this position will require working one weekend in every three.
