Educational Assistants for Secondary School (SEMH)

Long-term Teachers Ltd is collaborating with a remarkable secondary special institution seeking three dedicated Teaching Assistants to become part of their passionate team. The ideal candidates should possess a desire to motivate young learners and contribute significantly to their educational journey. This institution plays a crucial role in the community and is instrumental in shaping the futures of its students.

Operating across multiple locations, the secondary school is devoted to offering assistance to students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs (SEMH) alongside various other special needs and disabilities. One of the positions is based at the primary secondary site, another focuses on individual support, and the third is within their Adolescent Unit School. The role within the Adolescent Unit involves supporting students facing significant mental health challenges, thus requiring an empathetic individual with exceptional resilience.

Position Overview:

  • Role: Teaching Assistant (ages 11-16)
  • Contract: Full-time, Long-term/Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing emotional support to students throughout the institution.
  • Assisting educators with lesson planning and overall classroom management.
  • Delivering one-on-one support for students with SEMH & ASD.
  • Taking initiative in supporting students effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students, preferably in a UK educational setting.
  • Ability to manage challenging behavior confidently.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to promoting mental health in education.
  • Team Teach training is preferred.
