Position Overview

This role is a fixed-term contract for a duration of 2 years, intended to cover maternity leave.

Applicants must secure approval from their current supervisor before submitting an application for this position.

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic professional to deliver exceptional Podiatric Services to patients within the Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) and to foster clinical excellence throughout the region. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Specialist Podiatrist and other community services to ensure a smooth patient experience.

We will assign a dedicated mentor to the successful applicant, along with a structured mentoring program to support professional development.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be an independent practitioner with a strong desire to advance their skills, supported by senior staff in their role as a podiatrist. Candidates should exhibit excellent communication and organizational abilities, work effectively within a team, and actively engage in ongoing clinical and service enhancements. The role includes participation in a comprehensive supervision model that emphasizes shared learning across various services.

As part of a collaborative team, you will utilize evidence-based and patient-centered approaches to assess, plan, and implement tailored treatment programs, delegating responsibilities as necessary. You will also oversee podiatry assistants and students, promoting evidence-based practices and facilitating informed decision-making. The successful candidate should be a committed team player with a flexible work ethic and strong communication skills to aid in managing transitions.

Proficiency in Welsh is preferred for this position; however, applications from both English and Welsh speakers are welcome.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • BSc (Hons) in Podiatry
  • Certificate in Local Anaesthesia

Desirable:

  • POM S Entitlement
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh

Essential Skills:

  • Understanding of clinical governance
  • Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when necessary
  • Willingness to travel across PTHB
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Capability to make decisions under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
