About The Holden School

The Holden School is an independent specialist day school catering for pupils with a wide range of needs. Our dedicated team works together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.

Job Purpose

This key function of this role is to cover teacher and teaching assistant absence across the school. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and supporting planning of lessons in the case of sickness, as well as providing pastoral support where necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver lessons to cover teacher absence
  • Support in classes across the school to cover teaching assistant absence
  • Liaise with teaching staff regarding work set for a class
  • Manage the behavior of students to ensure a safe and inspiring learning environment
  • Collect completed work and resources after the lesson and return them to the appropriate teacher or subject lead
  • Work alongside teachers and teaching assistants to ensure a positive environment for all pupils
  • Plan lessons if and when required
  • Take on the role of Exams Officer for our small cohort of young people
Requirements

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to work effectively in a team and have a passion for delivering high-quality education to pupils with complex needs.
