Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children to thrive.
  2. Design and execute age-appropriate activities that promote children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth.
  3. Monitor and evaluate children's development, maintaining accurate records and addressing any concerns.
  4. Establish positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, ensuring open lines of communication.
  5. Assist children with personal hygiene tasks, including diapering/toileting, handwashing, and feeding.
  6. Encourage positive behavior management techniques, fostering a respectful and inclusive setting.
  7. Maintain a clean, organized nursery environment conducive to learning and play.
  8. Comply with health and safety standards, including maintaining ratios, conducting risk assessments, and following emergency protocols.
  9. Engage in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  10. Act as a primary caregiver for a designated group of children, providing tailored support as necessary.

Qualifications:

  1. Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Diploma in Childcare and Education).
  2. Prior experience in a nursery or early years setting with children aged 0-5 years.
  3. Solid understanding of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to cultivate positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English.
  6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and adaptability.
  7. Positive demeanor, patience, and a sincere enthusiasm for working with children.
  8. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare, adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
  9. Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and a willingness to pursue necessary training.
  10. Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance or willingness to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Paediatric First Aid Certification.
  2. Training in Safeguarding and Child Protection.
  3. Additional qualifications in areas such as SEN (Special Educational Needs), behavior management, or language development.
  4. Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
